Habitat for Humanity

On a very windy, slightly rainy, but mostly sunny Friday in March, I joined baker’s dozen-strong group of adventurous Lulus who took advantage of their company volunteer hours to work on a Habitat for Humanity job site in Raleigh, NC. We painted walls, planted shrubs and trees, shingled a roof, put up wood framing, [I] accidentally ripped our [my] jeans, sowed grass seed, caulked bathrooms, and moved a whole lot of dirt around, all with the aim of making a new home a reality for a local family. This particular neighborhood contains about 30 Habitat houses and counting, including the two that we worked on that day. Lulu’s volunteer hours policy allows team members to take time during the week to make connections in the community and lend their skills to great causes. – Jeremy Smith
